Josh Madden is a DJ, stylist, producer, PAPERMAG blogger and older brother of Joel and Benji Madden, who you might know from a little band called Good Charlotte. Madden was raised in Washington, D.C. -- not L.A., where many think he grew up -- and now lives in downtown Manhattan where he loves to collect stuff. He has a vast collection of Simpsons T-shirts, which he hopes to turn into an art show some day, and over 60 pairs of Vans sneakers. Here, he talks about his favorite pair -- white high-tops designed by legendary skater Tony Trujillo:"First there was Tony Alva, then there was Christian Hosoi and then there was Tony Trujillo. When everyone was going hip-hop or going clean cut he wasn't. I thought he was awesome and then he released this shoe for Vans that looked like a white high-top sneaker, like what kids wore where I grew up. They had rat-tails and bleached hair, and wore Warrant shirts, acid-washed jeans and white high-tops. We called them shin-guard shoes because they were so fucking huge. When Tony made these Vans I was like, no one's even going to get it, this guy is basically making a Vans Mötley Crüe shoe and that was not really in. When I saw them I thought, 'capital M-E-T-A-L.' There's something from my youth in these shoes. I think I paid $19.99 for them. I've never seen another pair, and I've never worn them. They're like a museum piece."
