Acclaimed California graffiti artist REVOK (ne' Jason Williams) of MSK (Mad Society Kings) was arrested Sunday at LAX while about to board a plane to Ireland. Though hiswork appears in MOCA's "Art in the Streets," the arrest was apparentlynot related to the exhibit. The LA County Sheriff's Department claimedthat it was due to an "outstanding warrant for failure to payrestitution for previous vandalism incidents." He is being held inlieu of $320,000 bail.
On his blog, REVOK refers to his participation in the MOCA show as "an incredibly overwhelmingexperience." He and designer Angel Labada produced a limited-editionbook, Nocturne, and the artist made several tee-shirts that are soldexclusively at the MOCA bookstore during the exhibit's run. He alsocollab'd on jeans and a denim jacket with the exhibit's sponsor, Levi's, that isout in June.
