M. Henry Jones is downtown's resident mad scientist cumanimator cum artist extraordinaire who can be found most days working atSnakeMonkey, his storefront studio on Avenue A. With over three decades ofpushing the boundaries of video and animation, Jones' work plays with perceptual phenomena, color and sound relationships. On Thursday, March 3, the AnthologyFilm Archives will present "M. Henry Jones and the Downtown Scene," the mostcomprehensive selection of Jones' work to date from movies made in high schoolto commercial work to his "stroboscopic neurological condition-inducingspinning animation art." Noted film critic Amy Taubin will speak about Jones'work and DJ Spooky, a musical collaborator with Jones on a series of multi-screen presentations of Harry Smith's films, will also contribute to theconversation.
