PAPER
Word of Mouth
For the last days of New York Fashion Week, R&B/pop super-star Keri Hilson, fresh off the red eye from the Grammy Awards in L.A., will be sitting pretty in the front row at all the hot shows, and bringing you her runway reports and after-party run-downs here on PAPERMAG.com. Here's her first installment.

Ahhhh, New York! Keri Hilson is here! The city currently reeks of extra-tall women, incredible rags, and phrases like, "that's gorge." I'm here as an eager student of fashion, a fan of the designers' shows that I'm attending. PAPERMAG has asked me to be a guest fashion blogger to let you in on my experience! Although I'm a little late, I'm just in time for the biggest and best shows! I hopped off the red-eye flight from the Grammys in Los Angeles and dove straight into the Diesel Black Gold show!

Aside from the clothes, one of the best parts about these higher-end fashion shows is the production itself! I threw on my Diesel and arrived at the Pier on the Hudson River excited about how they might have transformed the interior. Much to my surprise (but not really), they left it completely undone... chalky, dusty concrete floors, wires, and seating indicated by black panels with white stencil lettering. OK, now I get it! It does actually look like the perfect environment for Diesel's street-wear brand. Keep it raw! Loved it.

As soon as the place filled, those sterile white walls get the most colorful splash of eclectic fashion goers! I saw Mickey Boardman, editorial director of PAPER Magazine. He's always fly! I complimented his Lanvin chain! Wish I took a picture of it because I had to resist the urge to yank it from him :) I saw Theophilus London. I'd heard his name before from friends but never met him in person... Ladies, I can only describe him as a chocolate man with model capabilities in a caramel-colored fur jacket and hat. He looked as fashionable as any model on the runway!

The show was amazing! It started with the Daft Punk TRON music, which was soo hot!  I sat next to my friend Wyclef, who took pics of everything he wanted to own. OK, I have to admit, Ii did the same! Last month's PAPER cover girl Paz De La Huerta, Chace Crawford, Petra Nemcova, Vanessa Hudgens and DJ Mia Moretti were also in attendance. The clothes were of a darker-than-earth-toned palate. Caramels, plums, blondes, hunter greens, and of course the signature Diesel denim and black!! Leather bell-bottoms, wool tops, fur boots, oh my!! Afterwards, I met the owner/creator, Renzo Rosso, who was so sweet; his accent was so soothing!!

I ended my night at the VMan party to celebrate Kanye West's cover and catch DJ Mia Moretti on the ones and twos -- she's soo good!! Check the VMan cover out if you can get your hands on one! The party was as colorful as the magazine itself! Complete with money falling from the ceiling every few minutes! The strobe light made it like a game!! Kanye's friends and I played around and grabbed a couple of dollars from the sky before heading out... good times!
