One of our favorite gals-about-town, the young and lovely Hannah Bronfman (who recently graced the cover of AVENUE magazine after being named their "Girl of the Year") will be blogging for PAPERMAG about her New York Fashion Week exploits. This being her first Fashion Week, she's all fresh-eyed and full of beans. Here's her first installment.Hannah Bronfman here! I'm finally done with school just in time to check out the fall fashions and boy am I excited! This is my first Fashion Week ever but I don't feel like a virgin... I have kept myself privy to the trends since I was a little little one -- always putting my own spin on things. And now thanks to PAPER I can express my thoughts to all of you!
Fresh off the red eye from L.A. (and not feeling fresh at all) I ran over to the young, talented designer Emilie Ghilaga's house on the Lower East Side to shoot her look book. Emile, who spent time in India to focus on her line with love, Emilie Ghilaga has made her latest collection with the young, chic entrepreneur in mind. Tweed power suits and raw silk dresses paired with Satya and Roarke's jewelry made me forget about the crying baby seated in the row behind me on my earlier flight. It was absolutely freezing but Katie Schecter (singer/"model"/my BFF) managed to get the shots with in a few hours.
When I woke up the next morning, I felt this tingle, like I was about to have a full-on spa day. For me, a day running around New York in the winter talking only fashion and staying warm in a vintage fur is my idea of a spa day. I kicked off Fashion Week with a presentation by What Goes Around Comes Around. They have the largest vintage archive in the nation! My friend and designer Alexander Berardi, who often pulls inspirational pieces from WGACA, met me at the SoHo Grand Hotel with seconds to spare! The second floor was packed as Alex and I rushed into the "club room." The show sparkled with delicate sequined Parisian dresses and tops. I loved all the short looks with the fur jackets. Mini-dresses, skirts and shorts were topped with wide-rimmed hats. The bandannas were the signature accessory to accompany fringed mini-skirts and silk dresses. I spoke to WGACA co-owner Seth Weisser, He was very extremely pleased with the presentation -- as was I. His vintage meets ready-to-wear collection will be all over Coachella!
Can't wait for Jenni Kayne tomorrow!
