Lower East Side staple Max Fish is used to playing host to a sea (yeah, I went there) of New York "It" artists, and last night was no different when the bar hosted artist/DJ/ Leo Fitzpatrick's This is Where We Get Off, a mixed media show featuring his talented buddies. The group included PAPER regulars and emerging artists such as Andrew Kuo, Aaron Aujla, Dan Colen, David Benjamin Sherry, Hanna Liden, Nate Lowman, Ryan McGinley, Aurel Schmidt and Lucien Smith. Gang Gang Dance's Lizzi Bougatsos' piece,"My Pussy for Rent," provided a perfectly arch backdrop for the crowd of $2 PBR-sipping hotties -- I mean, holy flannel, there were so many scraggly works of art! I also spotted the adorable Adam Green, a cleanly shaven, barely recognizable Devendra Banhart, the petite blink-and-you'll-miss her indie darling Natasha Lyonne, and I swear, that dude from Crash (later identified as Michael Pena thanks to IMDb). If only my art "that's a dope piece!" descriptions were as impressive as my celeb-spotting. For that, there's the pictures...
