Out now on DVD is The Mary Tyler Moore Show: The Complete Seventh Season (20th Century Fox). This was the final season for the award-winning comedy TV show starring Mary Tyler Moore as the lovable Mary Richards working at WJM-TV, a little news station in Minneapolis. Producers famously decided to quit while the show was going strong and this season bears it out in a big way. This season includes iconic Moore Show episodes, including one in which Georgette (Georgia Engel) gives birth at Mary's apartment and another where the racy Happy Homemaker, Sue Ann (played brilliantly by Betty White), gets fired. Other highlights include episodes where Mary gets addicted to sleep medication, where she and boss Lou Grant (Ed Asner) go on a date, Mary's disastrous party where Johnny Carson shows up, and, of course, the touching, riotous last episode where everyone (but Ted Baxter- played by the wonderful Ted Knight) gets fired from the station. That episode has the return of Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman too and included the cast curtain call. There is not a bad episode in this three-disc set.
