Barneys was a complete zoo last night, but PAPERMAG snagged an interview with the legendary Daphne Guinness before we got the heck out. Miss Guinness, who was on hand to sign bottles of her limited-edition fragrance, chatted with us about her favorite places to shop and gave some sound advice to all of the the aspiring style icons of the world. Oh, and make sure to click through the gallery -- we threw in a couple of candid Anna Wintour photos for good measure.
All of the young ladies here seem to be really inspired by you-- what advice do you have for the budding style icons of the world?
Keep it real. Be yourself -- don't let it all get buried away. And keep it fun! If you're not having fun, then what's the point?
Why do you think Fashion's Night Out is so important?
I think it is an incredible idea. The fashion and garment industries are such a huge part of New York life, and I think it's great to celebrate that. There are so many unsung heroes, you know? The people who cut, and sew, and all of that. It's all such a joy.
Is there anything in particular that you'd like to pick up while shopping tonight?
You know what? I never know until it happens. So I don't know.
I like going to flea markets, actually. Especially in LA -- the ones in downtown LA are just so cool.
