Welcome to the third guest blog written by Stan D'Arde, the debonair, anonymous diplomat of the Standard Hotel. Stan will bebringing us the scoop on all of the fun going on at the Standard this week, which iscurrently filled to the brim with cute downtown types andchest-hair-exposing French playboys celebrating all things style.
We like to live our lives as an art installation. Life imitating art is our daily mantra. That's why when we came across Australian born artist, Anthony Lister, we did a little back flip in celebration of this A-Lister.
Lister uses comic book imagery in ways unlike anything seen before. He plays with the ideas of heroes, villains and secret identities, taken completely out of context and devoid of any storylines, to make you question your own inner identity. When I was a kid, I was a little bit Flash Gordon mixed with The Wonder Twins and just a dash of Wonder Woman because I wanted an invisible jet. Don't judge me. Superman was way too cliché.
Tonight, The Standard Shop will launch a site-specific installation of 30 pieces of his work with a chic cocktail party. A little Stanley told me that PAPER's Kim Hastreiter pre-ordered five works already. They are only $200 and are going really fast. [Ed note: Kim tried to buy five paintings, but could only purchase three. Stan's not joking about them going really fast.] Only available in the Standard Shop! Stop by tonight and pick one up.
