School of Seven Bells' "Windstorm" layers refreshingly breezy trip-hop sounds, atmospheres away from the altered tones that characterize so many neo-shoegaze acts: the vocals pierce like a ray of light, although they shed none on the identity of their owner, who could be either Alejandra or Claudia Deheza. In the video, a singing twin (or maybe both) leaves her position blocking traffic to find a cast of youths rotating like records in the wind. This doesn't really explain the lyrical preoccupation with "when the fires burn from sky to ground," although we guess she could've caused a vehicular pile-up in the street like that. New York traffic is serious.
