Mr. Mickey Goes to Versailles: Paris Report

Mr. Mickey and his trusty sidekick Lynn Yaeger had the good fortune to be spontaneously invited to a li' picnic at the Palace of Versailles by the people at the American Friends of Versailles. This group of American glamourpusses give money to special projects at the Palace. They've done an amazing job restoring the Trois Fontaines Bosquet (the garden with fountains you see in some of the pictures) as well as the Pavillion Frais, a jewel of a folly where Queen Marie Antoinette used to go for ice cream! The group should be proud of its work at the Palace as well as the job it does to foster happy relations between Americans and the French.

Here are some gorgeous shots of our day with the group including a delightful shot of MM with Baby Lynnie in front of a famous Vigee-Lebrun portrait of Marie Antoinette at the Petit Trianon and a shot of Lynn with Jonathan Marder in front of the grotto where Marie Anotinette was allegedly reading book when she found out the angry mobs were approaching the Palace. Jonathan and Lynn are also seen at the Queen's Theater, a gem of a spot! MM wanted to get on stage and do a tap number but, despite the fact that the French love Jerry Lewis, they were outraged at the thought of my performance. Quelle dommage! There is also a shot of Catherine Hamilton, president of the organization with the Vicomte de Rohan. Kimball Hastings of Ralph Lauren was along for the trip looking zippy in his Rugby Ralph Lauren blazer. The monogram on the staircase is Marie Antoinette's.
