Electric Feathers: Own Your Own

Last weekend I witnessed an unfortunate incident involving a friend of mine, a party, a dress, and the same dress on the girl across the patio. To help her avoid running into a twin again, I promised I would find her something that would be hers alone and I immediately thought of Electric Feathers, the womenswear line from designer Leana Zuniga.

The dresses, jumpsuits, capes and pants that make up her collection come in double gauze (wonderful on a hot summer day) and raw and washed silks that have been hand-dyed or painted in one-of-a-kind patterns. Whether you opt for one of these or not, most of Zungia's garments can be worn in multiple ways, leaving ample room for a personal imprint. And we're not just talking about 'belted or unbelted' -- Zuniga's dresses can be completely transformed: from simple halter to strapless to one shoulder and so on. One of my favorites from next season is the 'Parachute' dress, a lovely long number that not only offers all of these options, but also has ties at the hem that allow you to completely alter the length.

Zuniga's designs somehow manage to be structurally complex and effortlessly chic.
Inspired to create clothing that could be worn in any environment and still be perfect, the designs are timeless;  Zuniga's talent for draping means they fit and flatter beautifully. Avoid the 'twin' syndrome and invest in one of these pieces this summer.
