Dress, Shirt or Tunic?
By Alexis Swerdloff

In the grand tradition of games like "F*k, Marry or Kill," we are pleased to present to you: Dress, Shirt or Tunic? PAPER's managing editor Whitney Spaner claims that what she's wearing is some cross between a dress and a tunic, while the more traditional Mickey Boardman insists she is simply wearing a shirt over a pair of leggings. I took two shots of Whitney -- one from straight-on and the other of her leaning down to take out the recycling -- to give you guys a full-picture view. Ready? Set? Let's play Dress, Shirt or Tunic!

Anything that is past the waist and above the knee is a dress. It's more of a tank dress, but it's a dress nonetheless.

I think the real "dress test" is whether your hoo-haw would hang out if you bent over (w/o leggings, of course). No hoo-haw peep show = a dress. This looks like it doesn't quite pass the dress test, so I'm going to have to say it's a cross between a long tee and a tunic!! Sorry Whit ...

whitney i've gotta be honest, unless you're looking to pull a lilo stepping out of a limo, that's not a dress, and when i think tunic i think tory burch at the club for memorial day bbq, so i'm gonna have to side with mickey on this one and say it's a long tee.

I think it counts as a tunic, but to me, a dress is something that you can wear without leggings without being inappropriate, and while it is adorable, I don't think it would fly without the leggings.

its a shirt long enough to compensate for fashion's inclination towards asscrack baring jeans.

That's not a tunic. That's a long tank top (i.e. shirt).

Long tank top as it fitted all the way down. If it were a tunic, the body would be looser. A dress by no means.
