A slew of our favorite shutterbugs have taken their creative flair to some well-established fashion houses in recent months, transforming seasonal campaigns into full-fledged art projects.
McGinley took on Levi's,
The Selby revamped Cole Haan, and
Garance Doré brought her candid charm to Club Monaco's upcoming ads. The latest fashion/art collaboration was born when
Rag & Bone designers
Marcus Wainwright and
David Neville commissioned iconic British photographer
Mark Borthwick, whose exhibition debuted last night at
Rag & Bone's Soho outpost. The images, now adorning the shop's walls, have the intimate and overexposed qualities that have made Borthwick's work influential in the minimalist school of fashion photography. The project, shot over the course of two days at a handful of NY spots (the Highline, Rag & Bone's offices and Wainwright's studio) also features a few industry guest appearances, including
Jessica Stam and
Sally Singer, who are all, of course, sporting the house's summer collection. Unlike other fashion/art pairings, this one was done entirely as a limited run art exhibit with no intention of commercial direction. The beautiful sun-drenched images will not be used in any upcoming campaigns but will simply remain on the retail floor for your viewing pleasure.
