The great thing about
Tim
Burton's
Alice In Wonderland is that it causes other studios to unearth
their similar tributes to
Lewis Carroll. My favorite is this 1933
bizarre black and white film directed by
Norman Z. McLeod with an
all-star cast --
W. C. Fields as Humpty Dumpty,
Gary Cooper as the White
Knight, and
Cary Grant as the Mock Turtle. But the weird costumes and
strangeness of it all really creeped me out as a kid, and watching the
pristine print on DVD again reminded me just how odd it is. 'Drink Me'
indeed!
