L.A. Shop of the Week: N°A Boutique
By Camille Rousseau

In a sea of samesies, Los Angeles's N°A Boutique brings a serious jolt of fresh new fashion. The bright, airy space is located in the thumping heart of Little Tokyo and stocked full of rare international labels and quirky/cool domestic pieces. Co-owner Nate Vorhmehr took some time out to navigate us through treacherous style waters, the N°A way.
Why such a strong focus on international brands?
Basically, our whole thing starting out was to carry stuff that you can't find everywhere but not be super expensive, because most fashion-forward brands are just so expensive. We didn't want to be really basic and boring like a Zara or H&M, so we just researched tons of different labels from all over the world and found a good mix of brands that are different, unique, and sellable but not super pricey.
Is there a region of the world that's really killing it style-wise?
We've had a lot of success with Australian brands, there are a few that we have that are really good and not too expensive. They're a little more out there and unique with their style.

Beta Unit, Carapace, LOVA, Wildfox is always good, Alex and Chloe, Blood is the New Black. Those all do really well for us.
What is your current trend obsession for boys?
Brand-wise I'd say Uniforms for the Dedicated, but more specifically I'd say the lower-rise and slim tapered pants. Not exactly drop-crotch, but almost.
For girls?
Uh....tights. Tights are huge. Every line we look at has at least two or three different kinds of tights. That and the kimono tops, the kind of flowy, bigger than boyfriend-cut tops.
Paired over tights?
Yeah, that always works.
