Daily Obsession: Pakistan Fashion Week
By Zandile Blay
Despite
mounting military tensions and threats from the Taliban, the brave
fashionistas of Karachi soldiered on with their plans for Pakistan
Fashion Week. Shows started Wednesday, and so far dozens of designers
have debuted risque Spring collections full of color and bare bellies.
The event was scheduled to take place in October, but constant violence in the region forced organizers to push back the
date and cancel invitations to foreign buyers and press. But tough
times call for tough designers, like Sonya Battla, whose line was first to show last week. She explained to the Telegraph: "I'm a very
brave woman, I'm not going to be scared and no one's going to judge
me." Work, Sister!Photo: A Sonya Battla model prepares for the runway. (Via Reuters.)
