Mood lighting, glasses of bubbly, soft music and handsome, young art dealer Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld. If it weren't for the exhilarating murals on the walls, it would have been easy to mistake last night's art opening for Nicolas Pol's "The Martus Maw" as a dream first date. Alas, I had to take the groupie hat off and replace it with the reporter's pen. Below's an all-too-brief tete-a-tete with Roitfeld. Why Nicolas Pol?
I'm dealing his first exhibit in the U.S. I never met an artist so talented.
Really? What am I supposed to think when I look at his art?
Don't think. Jut look and see. It's a matter of reflection and feeling. Your first impression tells you a lot about beauty. It's good actually good not to know too much about art, so you can appreciate it in a different way. I think it's the same with fashion as it is with art.
So who's your favorite designer?
Ah! I'm not going to tell.
