Yes, it's gloomy out but don't let this stop you from heading over to The Journal Gallery tonight to see Mark Borthwick. The eccentric and poetic gypsy/ photographer/ musician/ spiritual guru Borthwick will be playing soul-nourishing folk, meditation music with friends Bow Ribbons, Paul Leonard and Usun as part of a series of performances he's been doing in light of the publication of his new book Not in Fashion. The series will end on Sunday (April 5) with a repeat performance by Usun and special guests.

Then after feeling all mellow and gooey inside, you should head over to Collective Hardware and dance your ass off to the sleazy-sexy music of Eric Duncan of Rub 'n' Tug and Severino DJ. It's a bit of yin and yang that might do a body really good.

The Journal Gallery, 168 North 1st St., 7 p.m., Free
Collective Hardware, 169 Bowery (@ Delancey), 11 p.m., $5
