L.A. Report: An Evening with Michel Gondry and Friends Hosted by Nike Sportswear
By Camille Rousseau
If you’ve ever been overwhelmed by an urge to throttle your paramour for their hesitance to whisk you away to Montauk or inability to make seafoam out of saran wrap, you know who to blame: Michel Gondry. The French filmmaker was in L.A. last night for
"An Evening With Michel Gondry and Friends," hosted by Nike Sportswear and Flux at the Montalban Theater. His new DVD is out now, and Gondrophiles lined the block for the chance to catch a sneak preview and a signed copy. The DVD features commercials, music videos, and interviews with famous friends such as Paul McCartney and Beck. Included is some never-before-seen footage, perhaps offering potential clues towards unraveling the dark wizard’s impossible thought process. In between video screenings were some Q&As from the audience, featuring a few forays into the inspirational (Hollywood conventions, fuck ‘em) and the weird (a dream of his involving poo, a fish, and Mick Jagger’s face). But on the whole, Gondry revealed himself to be both a humble and sweetly funny guy. For those of you in dire need of more creepy/cute videos, the Michel Gondry 2: More Videos DVD is available exclusively on michelgondry.com.

Gondry is wearing the same KidViskous necklace that was originally a custom piece for Paper editor Kim Hastreiter!
