A long-time PAPER favorite Tony Stone's Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America, a Werner Herzog-esque Man-vs-Man-vs-Nature-vs-God-vs-like-The-Theory-of-Everything film opens tonight at the Angelika Film Theater and will be playing through the 19th. "In the 11th century, Vikings, Indians, and Irish monks collide on the shores of North America in a historical epic adventure of exploration, personal glory, and religious dominance...." How's that for a teaser? If your cinematic taste buds are just beginning to salivate, wait for the stellar lineup of the soundtrack that includes Morbid Angel, Popol Vuh, Burzum, Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Brian Eno, Queens of the Stone Age and Judas Priest. The film stars the director himself, as well as downtown gallerist James Fuentes and actress Gabby Hoffman.
