Word of Mouth

Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps died yesterday from heart problems in California. He was only 62 years old. Lux was very influential in the early days of New York City punk, playing dives like CBGB's with his partner/guitarist Poison Ivy. Lux has a special place in my heart, as he was heavily influenced by old school rockabilly, and was the pioneer of the Psychobilly movement. I've seen them perform several times over the years, but the last time was two years ago at a Motherfucker party thrown by Justine D. and Michael T. at the Limelight. These never before seen images are from their last NYC show. And some of the fans that they brought out. Even in his golden years, Lux still freaked it out at shows going shirtless and wearing black latex and stiletto pumps, climbing speakers and thrashing on the floor. R.I.P. Lux Interior!
