Jonathan Kelsey: Shoe Crush

The Karen Walker show on Saturday was a splendid event, from the screaming hysteria of her soundtrack to her little shearling chapeaux. However, it wasn't ready-to-wear or a potential interview that had me hunting around backstage but rather (what else) a shoe. The perfect punctuation for Walker's latest work came strutting down the runway in pairs and I had to know who was behind these vibrant (patent reds, shiny buckles, glowy gold) sets of style. My answer now seems obvious. A brill-o Brit named Jonathan Kelsey is no stranger to stylistas across the pond and with a pedigree as polished as his -- Mulberry, Luella and Jimmy Choo are just a few notches on his old workbelt -- he's no stranger to stylemaking either. The show-stopping kicker was a tiered-leather gold bootie that made Karen's clothes feel even more alive with edgy elegance. Styling success at its best.
