About Last Night... Anna Sui, Givenchy, Da Silvano, Bergdorf's and Kai Kuhne
By Caroline Torem Craig
PAPER was able to keep its ten-year photo tradition alive: A photo session with Anna Sui and her family backstage before her show. Then it was through the construction maze of Little Italy to the Givenchy party at the Christopher Henry Gallery, where the artwork by Ian Wright was an eyelash-popping piece of work. DJ Alexander Dexter-Jones had a little help from Jake (son of Dustin) Hoffman on the ones and twos. Then it was a car service ride to Da Silvano for what Mr. Mickey called a “drive-by” at the dinner celebrating new Malo designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua. Outside the restaurant, we spotted a duo of trés populaire models Agyness Deyn and Magdalena Frackowiack with model agent to the stars Louis Chaban. After air kisses all around, it was up to Bergdorf’s for a richly-deserved tribute to the New York Times’ bicycle-riding Bill Cunningham. What a kick it was to take a photo of brilliant Lynn Yaeger’s giant image in the window with her standing in the flesh right next to it! I wound up the night with one of my dearest friends, the one and only handsome and unique Kai Kuhne. His party in the Rose Bar was grand and elegant. I can’t remember whether Julia Stiles had just left when I arrived or came just after I left – so much for total recall!
