A Quick Chit-Chat With Nathan Jenden at London Fashion Week

The pictures and reviews hadn't even been filed yet, but it was pretty clear after designer Nathan Jenden's designs made their way down the runway, that he had a hit collection on his hands. As I walked up the entrance to the cubed-glass gazebo he held his show in, I heard the compliments from the audience -- "Amazing collection... the colors were so beautiful...I need those clothes..." Even Diane von Furstenberg herself (in addition to helming his own line, Jenden is the creative director at DVF) ran up to him after the show to give praise. I caught up with Jenden as they were wrapping up their convo to chat about how good it is to be Nathan Jenden.

How are you feeling right now?
Tired!

I can imagine since you design for your label and work at DVF.
Yeah, but you know I'd be bored if I didn't have so much to do.

So what was the inspiration for this collection?
A little bit like being a kid in the candy store. I just kept thinking CANDY! I had this idea of just eating lots and lots of sweets. So it;s a bit of bubble gum and a bit of pop.

How are you going to unwind after this sugar high?
I'm not! I'm going to Paris in two days to meet with buyers for the clothes.
