Fashion Week is fast approaching, and you know what that means... Celebrity Guest Bloggers galore on PAPERMAG.com! To kick things off, allow us to introduce you to our first set of bloggers, Fashion Week newbies and 2007 Parsons grads Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie of Cushnie Et Ochs, a design duo being touted as the "new Proenza Schouler," who are presenting their first runway show and collection this Friday at the Glass Houses in Chelsea. Their sleek, sophisticated, cut-out-heavy line for Spring 09 has an American Psycho theme -- so look out for models carrying butcher knives -- and is sure to have the fashion world in a tizzy. Throughout the week Michelle and Carly are going to be giving us a wide-eyed inside peek into the daily lives of Fashion Week first-timers -- from the fittings, to the last-minute alterations, to the cocktail party schmoozing, to the show itself to the post-show glow... Here's their first installment.
The countdown has finally begun and there’s less than a week until our very first show!! So to prepare for what’s about to be a very crazy, nerve racking intense week, we decided to relax a little and go out with some friends on Saturday night. In toast to our last remaining nights of sleep, we ate, drank, and danced our way through Mr. Chow's, upstairs at Cipriani and 1OAK....
Late to rise the next day... Sunday afternoon it was off to the casting at 3 p.m. at Kevin Krier's offices. Thank goodness for Kevin, who is taking care of all show production and has been so amazing! Kevin Robinson, our casting director, knew exactly the kind of girl we had in mind. We were looking for attitude and sex -- strong and with a presence, no wall flowers at the Cushnie et Ochs show. Throughout the afternoon we saw some really great girls and some… not so great girls. Some were trying to stomp their way through the floorboards! After several hours and trillions of girls we selected a very lovely 25.
We then stuffed our starving faces at Pastis after a very long day, and tried to have an early-ish night as fittings begin Monday and its going to be a very long week... no rest for the wicked.
