Broadway cutie Matt Cavenaugh -- and a 2007 PAPER Magazine Beautiful Person -- is in talks to star as Tony in next year's revival of West Side Story. The Arkansas native (and yes he has a sweet southern drawl to prove it) has recently starred in the ill-fated productions of Urban Cowboy and Catered Affair in addition to the critically acclaimed Grey Gardens last year. None of these shows ran for more than a few months, except for Grey Gardens, which ran for a little more than six months. So hopefully he'll have better luck and a longer running time in West Side Story -- reportedly to be performed half in Spanish and directed by the legendary Arthur Laurents (Gypsy).
Although I think Matt is a babe and very talented, I really want them to cast Step It Up and Dance winner Cody Green as a jet. He'd be a natural performing Jerome Robbins' amazing choreography!
