Heading to the Convention? Check Out Cool Art and the Cold War Kids at Denver's Manifest Hope Gallery
By Alexis Swerdloff

If you find yourself in Denver later this month for the Democratic National Convention, and you're looking for a time-out from the seemingly endless stream of speeches, speeches and more speeches, head on over to Manifest Gallery. This "pop-up gallery," housed in Denver's Andenken Gallery throughout the convention, is hosting two very cool, non-speech-related events.
The first is an art show curated by Shepard Fairey (he of the iconic HOPE poster fame), which runs from Aug. 25-28, and will feature the works of five artists, the winners of a contest sponsored by Manifest Hope, MoveOn.org and Obey Giant. Artists were told to create works that center around "hope, change, progress, unity and patriotism," themes of Obama's campaign.
The second Manifest Gallery to-do is an outdoor concert (co-hosted by San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom), taking place on August 27 with performances by Silversun Pickups, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Cold War Kids, Nada Surf and DJ Z Trip. Find out the deets about both the exhibit and the concert after the jump.
