Bees are disappearing at a rapid speed and the ever-aware and awfully clever Derrick Cruz of Blacksheep and Prodigal Sons wants you to know, so he curated a heartstopping collection of works by talented artists and artisans around town and threw a killer party in support of our buzzing buddies and the creations they've inspired.

Earnest Sewn's Washington Street store is always a feasty treat for my senses but under the direction of Carlos Quirarte the beat-up boutique evolved into a sophisticated showcase, though for most of the evening it was too packed to get a proper look.

My fave works included a stunning, earthy and intricate installation featuring delicate branches against other-worldly objects by Mr. Ryder E. Robison, and an out-of-control Willy Wonka meets the Dark Crystal collection of confectionery cleverness by my good friends at Papabubble. In a true salute to the guests of honor, the candy-creators used sweets as their medium and made remarkable geometric sculptures, the majority of which contained solid gold necklaces suspended in liquefied sugar. If you are wondering what the hell I'm talking about don't worry, you can go and see all the bee-autiful goodness yourself as the exhibition continues throughout the month. It's well worth tempting yourself with the divine denim dangers of the shop to see these seriously stunning tributes.
