Word of Mouth

The International Center of Photography celebrated the vital role photos play in contemporary culture with an awards ceremony last night at Pier 60. As one of the more rabid shooters close to the firing line, I am very proud of my work. Let me let you in on a little secret: Most photographers loathe having their pictures taken, so some of the little portraits here, taken without studio ighting, gels, special lenses, a stylist and a make-up artist are priceless gems! Starring: Ryan McGinley, Mark Seliger, Mary Ellen Mark, Mario Sorrenti, Giles Bensimon, Craig McDean, Josh Jordan and more!

Diane Keaton won the ICP Trustees Award and came looking ready for a ‘50s fashion shoot. I said to her, “Well, aren’t you the clever one!” And she stopped cold in her tracks to say, “Why do you say that?” and I replied, “Looking so wonderful in your polka-dot hoop-skirt and being in so many films recently!” To which she responded, grinning, “Oh yeah, that!”
