Bar of the Week: Trophy Bar

South Williamsburgians rejoice! Trophy Bar has set up shop on the otherwise parched stretch of Broadway west of Haveymeyer, and you've got Farika, Mandy Misagal and James Rowe of nearby Stay Gold Gallery to thank for the much-needed addition. The newly renovated spot has a polished, vintage look with gray walls and black leather booths near the entrance and refined, old-fashioned touches throughout: white subway tiles, antique trophies, complimentary matchbooks and a chandelier made of gramophone horns. The decided pièce de résistance, a '50s-era jukebox stocked with 45s of dance party essentials (there's no such thing as too much Salt-n-Pepa) and a few tables, fill out the back of the space. The cocktail list is still being worked out, but should definitely include the bright and unfussy gin, Campari, and elderflower liqueur number ($9) our bartender recommended. Draft beers, including Six Point Righteous Rye and Hennepin (all $5), were the drink of choice for the evening's predominately neighborhood dude crowd, however. The food menu's also still coming together, but will include smaller plates and grilled sandwiches. Trophy has already won our hearts, but there may be even more to come. There have been rumblings about weekend barbeques this summer in their backyard, which has five picnic tables and room for a planned sculpture garden -- a perk that would certainly be appreciated.
