Shaun White, The Cool Kids and Other Cuties at the Burton US Open
By Michelle Lindsay

This past weekend I went up to Stratton Mountain for the Burton US Open. Now in its 26th year, the crowds came out in full force to cheer on their favorite snowboarders and soak up the sunny weather.
Shaun White, 2006 Olympic gold medalist and all-around amazing athlete, won the halfpipe and slopstyle contest for the third year in a row taking home a Volvo-C-30 and $40,000 in cash. Torah Bright, who won the overall Burton Global Open Series title and $100,000, took the women's halfpipe -- and another $20,000.
The weekend started with the aforementioned amazing weather and The Cool Kids playing at the Burton/Transworld party. LOVE THEM!! The theme of the weekend was lime green and yellow, and I saw a ton of cuties clad in the Sprite-friendly colors -- Gretchen Bleiler, who's working on an organic outerwear line with Oakley that will be out in the fall, local and pro Kevin Pearce whose fans and family were wearing "Kevin Pearce, VT. 100% Locally Organic Grown Shredding" shirts, the man himself Jake Burton and my favorite hottie, former pro and now NBC commentator Todd Richards! I ran into some friends from back home as well. Luis Calderin from Okay! Okay! and Pat Bridges, editor of Snowboarder magazine, poaching runs in the halfpipe. Women's Health fashion editor Maria Bedevia (my sidekick this weekend) and I ran in to actor Luis Guzmán, too.
Although the conditions were a bit icy and I never hit the slopes, the weekend was all-around amazing. Thank you to the Burton crew and MFA!!
