From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli, to zig-zagging crosstown traffic all last night to check in and out of a slew of parties! Our first stop was Karl Lagerfeld’s clearout sale at the Delorenzo Gallery. If this is the stuff that Karl can part with -- photographs, vases, and furniture from his personal collection -- imagine what he still keeps?? We snapped photos of Joan Juliet Buck formerly of French Vogue and Bob Colacello of Interview (pictured above) before we headed uptown to the opening of the exhibit, “blog.mode: addressing fashion,” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There, we happened upon Anna Wintour in a slightly worn-looking patchwork chinchilla and the brilliant Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte. From there, it was onto James Laforce’s Christmas party, which featured about a thousand cute boys (and a few cute girls too) happily stuffed into a closet-sized space! Then we headed to the charity water event at the Metropolitan Pavilion hosted by Adrian Grenier and Jessica Stam. This site will haunt me forever: Two little boys in Africa filling up their cans at a filthy watering hole with muddy yellow water and then dragging these cans for miles to their families to drink. It’s a charity that screams for your attention! The last party of the evening, Gaby and Donna Karan’s party for Kelly Killoren Bensimon at their studio, reminded me of a huge airy ski lodge in Gstaad. The room was filled with orchids, trees half the size of the one at 30 Rock decorated with funny little postcards and Polaroids and banquet tables replete with several roasted beasts, pies, cakes and bouche de noel! Chic, yes, but somehow still warm, simple and understated.
