Here's the new trailer for the upcoming David Cronenberg film, Eastern Promises, opening this fall from Focus Features. It stars Naomi Watts as a London midwife who discovers the diary of a dead girl connected to a ruthless crime family. Viggo Mortensen plays one of the mobsters and the trailer looks fabulous. Love that Cronenberg is working in "thriller" mode, and here, as in History Of Violence, he slips in his own unique and subversive sensibilities. I still remember sitting through Rabid in some grindhouse theater and flipping out over it.
