This Tuesday on http://www.mgm.com/dvd.php is the Frankie & Annette Collection, a fabulous box set of those idiotic and successful beach party movies American International Pictures put out in the 1960s -- all starring the buxom and virginal former Mouseketeer Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon with his boyish good looks and helmet-hair.

There's lots of frugging and fun and their biker nemesis is the silly Eric Von Zipper (Harvey Lemeck). Included in the set is Beach Party, which started the popular series, as well as Beach Blanket Bingo, Bikini Beach, How To Stuff A Wild Bikini, Fireball 500 (which mixed racing cars into the formula), Thunder Alley and Ski Party.
